PART 2: The Broken Glass Wasn’t the Problem…
So I thought I understood the situation and I thought that was the lesson. Until I looked in the car again and that's when I realized…
My bag was gone.
Now, let me tell you what that bag actually was. It was a Michael Kors mini backpack. Periwinkle. Cute. Something I had gotten during a time in my life when things were flowing a little differently. But in this season? It wasn’t luxury....It was a diaper bag.
Inside? Three diapers, some baby wipes and that’s it. In that moment, I had to laugh… because whoever broke into my car probably thought they hit something valuable. That’s when it clicked. The broken glass wasn’t a problem. The “loss” wasn’t even a loss! What would have been devastating to me in a different time has no real value in this chapter of my life.
Instead of thinking about what was taken... I did quick inventory of what was left behind.
My safety
Trinity’s safety
My ability to keep moving
Unexpected time to handle things I’d been putting off
So what was this really about? Trust. What if the break was the opening?
Trust that not everything that looks like disruption is harm.
Trust that sometimes things are removed because they no longer belong where you’re going.
Trust that even loss can be alignment
🦋Reflection:
We spend so much time trying to protect, control, and hold onto things. But sometimes life gently (or not so gently) removes something just to show you that you were never lacking.
You were just holding onto what you didn’t need anymore.
Practice: Reframing the “Loss”
Take a quiet moment today and think of something that felt like a loss, inconvenience, or disruption recently. Then ask yourself:
What was actually taken?
What was left untouched?
What did this make space for?
Now write one simple sentence: This wasn’t a loss… it was making room for ______.
Honestly…let that answer be incomplete if it needs to be because clarity doesn’t always arrive right away, but awareness is where it begins! Remember... Sometimes clarity doesn’t come in the moment. Sometimes it comes after the pause.
Until next time:
Be Present. Be Aligned. Be Worthy.
